AREAS OF MINISTRY
Evangelism and church planting have been a strength of the African church, yet 85% of church leaders have no formal training to lead their congregations. Those who are pastoring in remote areas who have received formal training seem to have few available developmental tools and support to continue in their work. This leaves the pastor to feel isolated and burned out in the ministry.
Craig and ministry partners work to train, support, and resource pastors in under-supported areas for the health of local churches.
The AIM Chaplaincy team offers individual pastoral care/mentoring. Pastoral care/mentoring involves listening with empathy, offering encouragement, praying with and for missionaries and walking alongside them through challenges such as illness, loss, stress, or crisis. Its goal is to support overall well-being—emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
Abby works to offer intensive discipleship focused on heart issues. These issues can include fear of man, anxiety, depression, conflict, self-worth, and many others. She strives to prayerfully “get in the boat” with the counselee- not as a perfect person, but also a fellow saint, sinner, and sufferer and offer supplies or tools such as prayer, reading the Scripture together, and listening to help the counselee see who God is, where He is, and what He has to say; done in light of the understanding of the central role of the body of Christ. Also knowing the counselee is an embodied soul, meaning that the body matters as well as the heart/spirit. A goal of biblical counseling would be that the counselee is growing closer to Christ and understanding who they are, who God is, and what He says in Scripture.
